italian techno heavyweights markantonio and rino cerrone finally name their collaborative ventures after ten years of gigs and productions together, and the name is junction hands. revolution is back is the first full release under the junction hands moniker, following a well received outing as part of the recent the napoli connection ep on adam beyers drumcode and it sees the two veterans deliver some of their strongest work yet. the title track is a pacey number with a reverb soaked yet warm atmosphere which underpins an aggressive, simple and incredibly effective bass/drum loop which gains intensity throughout. sharp sounds puncture the groove here there which keeps things interesting but its the discordant stabs in the break which push things into overdrive. the equally hypnotic and driving thing for hands follows but manages to do so with an increased feeling of woozy menace. synths feedback on themselves to shattering crescendos before subsiding into waves of noise while the groove relentlessly works its magic. with junction hands theres yet another must-check name coming out of the neapolitan scene.
their debut three tracker ep has a theme running through it.. yup, its all about sides. first up is a riff you may well know from trevor horn and fgth. they take the tribe groove, slow it down and strip the groove back. using just the riff from the famous 80s monster hit they cunningly carve out >two sides< as their sultry opener. next up >by my side< enlists the help of the handily associated brass section. shuffling grooves, stabby horns and muted picked guitar are the order of the day. its a perfect one for those early dj-set appetizing sections. to round things off we tone it down even further with the beautiful >by my side<. subtle tones, lazy keys and a smouldering groove. when the keys kick in during the last minute its a glorius and sublime treat. stay tuned for more sides.
mister saturday nights eamon harkin dishes out another dose of rocking revamps on this the second release from his subway series imprint. this time the throne of blood man takes three numbers which should be somewhat recognizable to discerning ears and mutates them into jams designed firmly for the dance floor. >party out of sight< is a superb re-work of the bill withers seminal harlem. this edit made its first mark a few years ago in an earlier guise on mp3 but has now been further spruced and improved for wax. >the better kind< stretches out joy divisions >means to an end< and underpins it with a rocking drum pattern whilst >turn up the funk< is an excellent re-work of the proto hip-hop number >shoot the pump< from back in the day. a real bumper package!
AS THE REACTION FOLLOWED I KNEW MY FEELINGS WERE RIGHT
12 Inch 24.05.11
dutch export ion ludwigs first offering for londons trelik imprint is a lesson in stripped back, mechanical groove-funk. title track >as the reaction followed i knew my feelings were right< is a rolling groover with nods to the kdj and theo school of deep house, with oven warm harmonies and vintage key sequences and lucid pads pushing the track along for its eight minute duration. flip over for >l sable<, which takes things in a more hypnotic direction with insistent stabs, a funky bubbling bassline and one of those vocals that you will be happily humming for days. forget what people are saying about old-skool and nu-skool deep house, this is simply house music at its very best.
MUZIK BOX CLASSICS VOL.3 - BABY, BABY BABY, AW SHUCKS / NO WAY BACK
12 Inch 19.05.11
ltd represss on white label!! from the dark, dusty vaults of the hardy family comes this special re-issue of two of rons most trustworthy edits in all of their original glory. two tracks that would send the music box crowd into orbit, lovingly restored and rescued from obscurity. a1. first choice – let no man put asunder. b1. the dells – no way back. essential!
peters love of obscure disco and house shows in this solo album - wide ranging influences have gone into the musical hot-pot. take the slo-mo lazy groove of lead track and opener love is the key . this sets the sonic palette, laid back, underground and understated (but cucumber cool) throughout. deliberately absent are the commercial and pseudo-poppy sounds from the visti and meyland 2010 debut. this record is a club affair, less in your face and more all around you . for example lost in space is one part elastic groove, one part melodious, enveloping ambience and one part progressive disco groove. tracks such as i m out the door , bubble bubble and drinking in darkness are more direct, straight dance floor booty-shaking grooves. as is what you would expect from the man who has dj stamped firmly into his dna.
12inch album sampler for tiger & woods debut long player >through the green<. featuring the dynamic duos top secret super hit >gin nation< and the brand-new ecstasy epic >kissmetellme< - including the dj-friendly beat-up heat-up >kissmetellmemore<. you are in for some top notch editainment. shrouded in mystery! here today, won-t be gone tomorrow…
number 1 in a series of 3 eps unraveling unreleased classic house tracks by stefan goldmann. victoriaville continues its research into stefan goldmanns sweet back catalogue with the world premiere of a triple vinyl series of never before released house material. revisiting the years 2000 - 2005, emptying the vaults highlights the era of stefan goldmanns uk years. often his actual releases with classic, ovum and front room reflected just a part of the possible. now victoriaville proudly steps in to let the whole thing shine. restored from the original master tapes and cut by d&ms rashad, heres some startling evidence of how deep the roots of house actually were in berlin years before the still ongoing hype set in. >cirque mecanique< is a throbbing groove work out with a dark edge, while >warm rush< brings sweet & pure deepness. >true dub< is an unreleased alternative version to 2002s >true< single - no vocals, just bass. enjoy and look out for parts 2 & 3!

the horses come back to jazzmin with a more disco take on house music. >acid village< is a midtempo burner that combines acid, big arpeggio bassline and moody strings with a vocal that will probably encourage you to hold your hands in the air. b-side is a remix from modern disco/funk band los charlys orchestra, by adding vocals, synths and electronic percussions to the original the horses take it to another level of floor-filling. this ep announces their forthcoming album on jazzmin, release in september!
incl 12inch & cd album. snugness and calmness are important ingredients for a fulfilled life- and for entertaining dance music as well, as is proven by the gentlemen schaeufler and zovsky. their debut album could be characterized as a cunning mixture of humorously grinning relaxation and pushing dance floor bounce. this unique sound reflects the stylistic background of the duo: while the one keeps grooving on the laid back and independent vibe of his rural home mecklenburg, the other moved to berlin already some time ago and inhales all the diverse, international influences of the electronic metropolis. the village is rhythmically fuelled by casual and lasciviously house tunes with a warm and friendly character, supported by organic, dubby bass lines. matching this positive and uplifting mood, light melodies, classical styled filter modulations and unobtrusive vocal entries remind the laid-back amusement of a sunlit sunday outing.
uk producer mark e has been one of the hottest newcomers in 2005 with his re-edits for the jiscomusic imprint. here are two bass heavy slow burners in detroit beatdown style for the 2006/2007 season on gerd jansons running back imprint!

300 copies, vinyl only, authentic, raw, underground. the second offering from laak on their austere imprint is another defined four tracker. >back of beyond< kicks things off, a sincere heads down jam combining latin percussion elements with a killer bass line and warm chords. the second track, >dont ever leave< is a heartfelt lament on the feeling of loss, slowing the tempo down, this one is deep! on the flip, >cosmic causeway< offers something a little different although keeping with the warm pads, this time the use of a spaced out trumpet keeps things flowing. the remaining track >cantankerous emotions< is a little different as regards to the beats, but loses none of the soul and profoundness of the other tracks. only for the underground soldiers!
braille serves up a firing couple of tracks on rush hours direct current sub label.... tip!! braille is better known as praveen, who forms sepalcure together with machinedrum. he uses this new alias for his house orientated output. >the year 3000< is a vocal house mover of anthemic proportions. it craftily reworks a classic chicago house vocal and gives it new life back into the future. banging! >leavin without you< is built around a heartfelt vocal soul sample, which cuts in and out of the mix leaving room the music to take off leaving planet earth.
danish duo laid back made a most surprising comeback to the clubs in 2010 with >cocaine cool<. not that they had ever been really forgotten: their electro pop classic >white horse< remained a sure shot in clubs for the thirty years after its release 30 years back and a constant inspiration to boatload of diverse artists from techno to hip-hop. >cocaine cool< was recorded at the same session but the ironic vocals ridiculing label executives blowing up their frail ego with the chemical substance were deemed to risquee at that time, so the recording collected dust in some box until last year. bostons >soul clap< another duo hailed as one of the hotest things in clubland known for their eclectic funk-rooted taste. they opt for a cool sparser arrangement leaving out the “white horse -like chords. a loose, dry electro funk beat, hpynotic one-note synth, few dub effects and additional vocoder vocals do the trick bravorously. besides an instrumental version theres also a harder jacking dub take sounding like early chicago house edits. and while the boys are add it they also re-edited another huge one from laid back: >baker man< that managed the unlikely balancing act of not only hitting it bigtime in the charts but also in the emerging balearic scene. this 12 inch is cool in every which way!
WITH OUR HEADS IN THE CLOUDS AND OUR HEARTS IN THE FIELDS (CLEAR LP + MP3)
Coloured 12 Inch LP 26.04.11
for their new release, >with our heads in the clouds and our hearts in the fields<, these two have somehow gone back in time to capture the sound of glacial moving, dark cough syrup pop music. mr. wiltzie has manipulated his trademark stars of the lid sound of haunting ambience, deconstructing, and funneling it through the beautiful voice, and song compositions of chantal acda. together, sleepingdog have gently abducted these gaseous tones, and choruses of pacific tree frogs into some beautifully crafted melancholic orchestration that reminds us all that we exist in a world of strangers, drifting only two feet apart. >with our heads in the clouds and our hearts in the fields< is sleepingdogs third album after >naked in a clean bed< (zeal - 2006) and the critically acclaimed >polar life< (gizeh/zeal - 2008).
comes on clear / translucent vinyl, including code for free digital download.
and the story goes like this: skipson (also known as knarf skipson in the past) was recording the >ks editspot pt.1<, which is based on samples from a rob mello track. as skipson is a nice fella, he sent the final version to rob. and as rob is a nice fella too, he liked it, sent one of his tracks back and this project was born. thats the easy way of sample clearing! this 10inch is about house music, as simple as that! groovy beats and fat basslines, rough and ready. limited to 500 copies - enjoy!

with ifumes first ever release >polaroid love< ep still fresh on our decks and receiving many props from around the globe, master-hs exotic komplex de deep imprint, for their next release, turn to a far more established artist in the form of label regular, francois dubois. whilst his techno alias funk d void has taken the lions share of the plaudits for many years, lars sandbergs other alter ego has, in recent times, shone just as brightly. whilst the tough beats of fdv are firmly routed in his scottish homeland, its no doubt the warmer climate of his spanish residence that enthuses and drives the deeper and smoother sounds of francois dubois. releases and remixes from the francophile have graced such labels as urban torque, plastic city, freerange and buzzin fly.

with its first 4 singles the spanish label apersonal music made its way rapidly into the highlights of the modern nudisco scene. on its 5th effort they release their first all original tracks ep betting hard on the dynamic and innovative melodies of volta cab, a young producer from the russian city of ulyanovsk. volta cabs music pieces have been gaining attention in the underground music scene through out the internet for some time now, a sound strongly influenced by the 80s sound and pop-culture which will finally hit the stores shelves this year. for apersonal s 5th volta cab delivers 4 original & unique tracks which gives form to this very musical and personal ep. standing out is the main single of the ep >why you come back here< on which volta cabs original vocals play along with catchy elements of disco and soul wich he masters with his unique style. feels like starsky & hutch on acid. >volta cab comes from mother russia and brings us into the neon future. into the times when the war is over and everyone in the universe loves one another in the interstellar dance to synth pop music.<

more beatdown disco badassery from camp sleaze, courtesy of melbournes francis inferno orchestra (fio), whose profile is skyrocketing after a string of stellar releases on dikso, wolf music and under the shade. unsurprisingly, >the night he came home<, his debut ep on sleazy beats recordings, is a right clusterbomb of a record. with rush back and this fire is real, fio showcases just how good he is at capturing the sound of 80s disco (crappy vocals and tom drums, what’s not to love?) and transforming it into infectious, midtempo dancefloor fodder while keeping things deep, down and dirty. lovers on the flip is a tasty dreamy chugger with a hypnotizing groove that will appeal to the fans of the super value special edits series. one of sleazy beats finest releases yet, and as usual, a very limited affair (no digital, no repress).
